I’m a big fan of collecting coins and I’m
particularly drawn to Eisenhower silver dollars from 1972. These
coins are not only great to add to my collection, but they also
have value as silver bullion. It’s a win-win! It’s amazing how
these coins have held their value so well over the years. I’m
always learning more about how to get the most out of my coin
collection and it’s great to know that these coins are a good
investment.

I’m a proud owner of a 1972 S Eisenhower silver
dollar! I’m sure I’m not the only one, as most coins minted were
proof coins. Both uncirculated and proof coins were produced, and
the mint mark can be found just above the date. It’s interesting to
think that these coins were minted over 45 years ago! It’s a great
reminder of how long the US has been around.

I’ve got to tell you, not all 1972 Eisenhower
dollars are made of silver. The US minted the ’72 Eisenhower
copper-nickel clad coin with no mint mark and also the ’72 D
Eisenhower copper-nickel clad coin. So if you’re looking for silver
coins, make sure you check the mint mark!

I can easily distinguish between the silver
coins and the copper-nickel coins. The silver coins have a
brighter, shinier surface and they are heavier too. If we compare
their weights, the silver coins weigh 24.59 grams while the
copper-nickel coins weigh 22.68 grams.

Value

I’m worth at least my weight in silver. As of
June 3, 2023, I’m worth $7.47 in silver. That’s because silver is
currently priced at $23.62 an ounce. So if you want to cash in on
your silver coin, now’s the time!

I recently found out that my 1972 silver dollar
is worth around $18 in MS 63 uncirculated condition. If it’s in MS
65 uncirculated condition, its value will increase to around $22.
It’s exciting to know that what I have is worth something, and I’m
looking forward to seeing how much it will be worth in the
future.

I recently added a 1972 proof silver dollar to
my collection. After doing some research, I discovered it was worth
around $20 in PR 65 condition. I was amazed to learn that 1,811,631
proof coins were minted that year! It’s a pretty rare find. I’m so
glad I was able to get my hands on this piece of history.

Grading System

I’m holding an MS 63 choice uncirculated coin,
and I can see some blemishes and contact marks in the key focal
parts. The luster of this coin isn’t as strong as I’d like it to be
either. Still, it’s a decent coin overall and a great addition to
any collection.

I’m looking at a MS 65 gem uncirculated coin.
It’s got a nice deep luster to it and it’s definitely got some
eye-catching appeal. A few light scratches might be there but
they’re hardly noticeable. Overall, it’s in great condition.

I’m looking at this PR 65 proof coin and I can’t
find a single fault. It may have some small blemishes, but that’s
all. Overall, this coin is in perfect condition and is a great
example of its kind. It’s an ideal coin for any collection.
