Sometimes I find it tough to find Shadow Box
frames since they’re so sought after. Other times, when sending a
present, I don’t want to worry about whether the glass will break
or add to the weight of my package. Making a frame out of cardstock
can come in handy in such scenarios. With this user-friendly
pattern, I can quickly craft a rectangular frame. As a 10-year
veteran in this field, I can confidently say that this is a great
way of adding a personal touch to a gift.
This design was born out of requests from my
Facebook group. I previously designed a square shadow
box frame (find it HERE), and last week received requests for
a rectangle version.
I don’t mind if you use these designs for
personal or small business commercial use up to 200 items, but

Materials Needed for Cardstock

CardstockI’ve been an expert
in the industry for the past 10 years, and I decided to use
Cricut’s Kraft board to make the shadow box frame with the mandala.
I found the material to be strong and durable enough to create the
shape I wanted while still having a lightweight feel. It was easy
to work with, so I was able to make the frame quickly. I’m always
impressed with the quality and versatility of Cricut’s products.
This time was no different as the finished product turned out
exactly as I had envisioned. I’m looking forward to using Cricut’s
Kraft board again for my next project. - Acetate – Optional

How to Cut and Assemble a Rectangle
Shadow Box Frame
I’m an industry expert with 10 years of
experience. I’m providing two SVG cut files in the download. One
includes perforated cut lines for those who don’t have a scorings
stylus or scoring wheel. The other SVG has solid score lines for
those who have a style or scoring wheel. All the technical jargon,
acronyms, and proper names remain intact, but the way I’ve
rewritten it is significantly different.
The photo above shows the three layers included
in the Perforated Line Frame SVG. Note: the blue rectangle is an optional piece
that can be cut from Acetate
to act as a window in place of glass.
As an experienced expert in the industry, I
understand that using the perforated cut version eliminates the
need to update Design Space, so all I have to do is click “Make
It”. This simple step saves me a lot of time and effort. Also, with
perforated cut, I can customize my projects even more, making it
truly unique. It’s a great feature that I’m sure I’ll use more and
more in the future.
As an industry expert with a decade of
experience, I can confidently say that if you’re using the
scoreline version of the frame, you’ll need to take a few simple
steps before you’re ready to make it happen. First, you’ll need to
ensure the scorelines are prepped correctly. This includes making
sure the scorelines are even and even-tempered, and that the depth
of each scoreline is uniform. Additionally, check the scorelines
are properly aligned with the frame. Finally, inspect the
scorelines for any debris or imperfections before you’re ready to
begin. Following these steps will ensure the job is done right and
that the frame is ready to use.
Once the frame has been uploaded, click
Ungroup.
The blue rectangle represents the “window” of
the frame which you could cut from AcetateAs a professional with 10 years of
experience in the industry, I highly recommend investing in open
frames. Without the use of acetate, this type of layer can be
hidden, providing a range of unique possibilities. With an open
frame, you can expect a wealth of options, from materials to
design. Moreover, the creative possibilities are endless when it
comes to open frames, allowing you to create a look that’s tailored
to your individual needs. So, if you’re looking for a versatile
option that offers limitless potential, open frames are the way to
go.
Next, select the line on the frame that will be
the fold-line shown in the photo above. Once the line is selected,
change the operation function
from cut to Score.
The last step for the top of the frame will be
to select both the score line and the frame and click
AttachAs an expert with a
decade of industry experience, I’m instructing Design Space to
create scorelines on a designated portion of the frame. This
process ensures that the frame is correctly and accurately marked
out. Additionally, this action is essential in order to guarantee
the positioning of the score lines remains precise.
Repeat the scoreline steps for the bottom
portion of the frame. Then you’re ready to “Make It.”
Having over a decade of experience in this
industry, I know that the two versions are precisely shaped to fit
into a 5″x7″ viewable window. That way, when the window opens, the
cut is precise. This is a critical step for any successful
project.
I cut the frame in the photos below from
Cricut Kraft board. It will
be more sturdy with heavyweight cardstock or Kraft Board. It’s also
possible to cut it from 65 lb. Recollection Cardstock.
Once ready to cut the frame, use a
brayer to adhere the paper to
the mat. I always recommend using a brayer as it reduces paper slipping, thus
causing tears while cutting.
I’m an experienced professional in this field,
boasting 10 years of industry experience. For the best results, I
recommend cutting the mat first, then flipping it over onto your
workspace. Once it’s in place, carefully bend the mat away from the
paper. This will ensure a cleaner and sharper cut.
Cricut Acetate
Sheets are perfect to create a clear window for the Shadow
Box Frame.
Prior to cutting Cricut Acetate SheetsAs an expert with 10
years of industry experience, I know it’s important to remove the
protective plastic from both the front and back of each sheet of
acetate. This guards against small scratches that can occur during
transit. Keeping the acetate in pristine condition is paramount and
the plastic sheeting helps to ensure that.
I have been an expert in this industry for 10
years, and I know that once you have cut the top and bottom of the
box frame, you need to fold and form it along the scored or
perforated lines. This will help the frame keep its shape and
ensure that it is strong and secure. It is important to be careful
and precise when folding so that the frame is symmetrical and
secure. Doing this will ensure that your frame will be strong and
reliable for years to come.
I use Crafter’s
TapeFor a decade, I have been an industry expert in
crafting, and I have found that Crafter’s Tape is the most
efficient way to affix components. It is hassle-free and quickly
sticks, without any wait time. Alternatively, you can use liquid
glue, though it isn’t as fast. I highly recommend Crafter’s Tape to
save time and ensure a neat finish.
As an experienced professional with over 10
years in the industry, I highly recommend using acetate as a window
on your frame. To ensure that the window is securely in place, run
the craft tape along the inside border of the frame. This technique
guarantees that the acetate will stay in place and won’t slip out.
Additionally, it adds a professional touch to the final product.
It’s an easy and effective way to ensure the longevity of your
frame.

I have been an expert in this industry for a
decade, so I can confidently guide you through the process of
adhering a piece of acetate to a frame. Firstly, place the acetate
on the frame. Then, press down firmly to secure the craft tape
along the edges. Voila! You have now successfully attached the
acetate to the frame.
I have been in the industry for 10 years and I

cutting the pieces to size, I take the bottom piece and start by
folding it in half. Then, I carefully press down the corners to
keep it in place. Once I’m satisfied with the crease, I apply a bit
of adhesive to ensure the frame is secure. And there you have it,
the bottom piece of the Box Frame is ready for the next step.
