APMEX offersProof American Silver EaglesI’m an
avid collector of Silver Eagle Coins, and I’m always looking for
unique pieces to add to my collection. The Proof Coins, in
particular, have a special finish that avid collectors appreciate
and value. The American Eagles have been minted at various mints,
such as Philadelphia, San Francisco, and West Point. Each coin is
struck multiple times, creating a one-of-a-kind finish. I’m always
on the lookout for unique coins to add to my collection, and Proof
Coins are some of the most sought-after.

Unlike their bullion counterparts, American
Silver Eagle Proof coins do feature a mint mark indicating where
they were produced, as they are intended for the collector market.
The American Silver Eagle has a face value of one dollar and
contains one troy ounce of .999 fine SilverI was released in 1986
as a Silver American Eagle, the only official investment-grade
Silver bullion coin of the United States. It’s also the world’s
only Silver bullion coin that’s backed by the U.S. government;
guaranteeing its weight, content, and purity. It’s a great way to
invest in Silver and show pride in the American Eagle.

Burnished Silver American Eagle Coins

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of America’s
official Silver bullion coin, in 2006 theBurnished American Silver
EagleI’m proud to own a Burnished American Silver Eagle, with its
beautiful “W” mint mark from the West Point Mint. It’s a special
collectible, with an added frosted finish that really maximizes the
glory of the coin. The matted finish gives it a smooth look and a
high value. Although the mintages of these Burnished Silver Eagles
are usually lower than the BU and Proof coins, that makes them even
more special to me!

American Silver Eagle Designs

I’m fascinated by the classic artwork featured
on the Silver Eagle design, crafted by Adolph A. Weinman and John
Mercanti. Most notably, the obverse is the iconic Walking Liberty
design which was used between 1916 and 1947 on the Walking Liberty
Half Dollar. The reverse displays a symbolic heraldic eagle with an
olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other, mirroring the
Great Seal of the United States. Above the eagle are thirteen
five-pointed stars, representing the original thirteen colonies.

In 2020, the United States Mint unveiled the new
reverse designsThis year marks the 35th Anniversary of the American
Eagle Coin Program and I’m so excited for the new design by AIP
Designer Emily Damstra and Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso.
The 2021 Silver coin features a single eagle gliding in to land,
clutching an oak branch in its talons. It almost looks like it’s
about to add the branch to its nest. I can’t wait to get my hands
on one of these incredible coins!
