I’m a huge coin collector, and I recently
stumbled across some 1974 Eisenhower silver dollars. Not only do
these coins have a ton of numismatic value, but they’re also worth
their weight in silver bullion. That makes them a pretty great
find. If you’re a fan of collecting coins, you should definitely
look into getting some of these. They’re a great addition to any
collection.

I minted the 1974 S Eisenhower silver dollar in
both proof and uncirculated conditions. The majority of my coins
were produced in proof. The mint mark is located above the date on
the coin.

I’ve got a dilemma. I’m not sure if my 1974
Eisenhower dollar is a silver coin or not. I know the US minted
other versions of this dollar too – a copper-nickel clad coin with
no mint mark, a 1974 D copper-nickel clad coin, and a 1974 S
copper-nickel clad coin. It’s a bit of a tricky situation, but I’m
hoping to figure it out soon!

I can easily tell the difference between silver
coins and copper-nickel coins. The silver coins are much shinier
and weigh more – 24.59 grams. On the other hand, the copper-nickel
coins weigh 22.68 grams. It’s pretty clear which is which.

Value

I know this coin is worth at least its weight in
silver, no matter what condition it’s in! As of June 04, 2023, I
worked out that the silver melt value for this coin is $7.46. To
work this out, I used the current silver spot price of $23.58 per
ounce.

I’m looking into the value of the standard 1974
silver dollar, and it looks like it’s worth about $18 in MS 63
choice uncirculated condition. If it’s in MS 65 gem uncirculated
condition, then its value rises to about $27. Pretty cool, huh?

I recently found out that my 1974 proof silver
dollar is worth about $20 if it’s in PR 65 condition. Apparently, a
total of 1,306,579 of these coins were minted. Who would’ve thought
that this old coin I had lying around is worth something!

Grading System

I’m currently looking at a MS 63 choice
uncirculated coin. Upon closer inspection, I can see some blemishes
or contact marks present in certain areas. The luster of the coin
appears to be slightly duller than expected.

I feel captivated by the MS 65 gem uncirculated,
as it has a strong luster and gorgeous eye appeal. Despite some
minor contact marks, they are barely visible. All in all, it’s a
stunning piece.

I’m the proud owner of this PR 65 proof coin and
I’m excited to report that I couldn’t find a single flaw! Even
though there may be some minor blemishes, it’s still in great
condition. This is a great find that I’m sure many coin collectors
would be envious of.
