First released in November 1986 by the US Mint,
the American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of
the United States. It is struck in the one-troy ounce size, which
means it is guaranteed to have one troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver.
This is arguably the most successful, best-selling silver coin
programsAs a collector, I know that investing in precious metals is
a wise decision. They are valuable assets that have been sought
after for centuries. Precious metals like gold, silver, and
platinum are in high demand and can provide a great return on your
investment. They also provide a hedge against inflation, making
them an excellent choice for long-term investments. As a collector,
I love that these metals can also be used to create beautiful and
unique items that can be enjoyed and passed down for generations.
Precious metals are truly an investment for the future, and I’m
proud to have them in my collection.

I created the Obverse design in 1916 as a
sculptor named Adolph Alexander Weinman. It was first used in the
half-dollar piece and it featured the classical goddess Liberty in
movement. People called it the “Walking Liberty” because of the way
Liberty was portrayed. It’s an iconic design that stands out even
I watched as the sun rose in the distance, with
the word “Liberty” standing tall above the goddess. Above her, the
historic inscription of “IN GOD WE TRUST” was inscribed, and the
mint year on the bottom. It was a sight to behold, a reminder of
the freedom we have and of the power of faith.
Eagle on the reverse
I’m John Mercanti and I designed the original
reverse of the American Eagle coin. It looks just like the Great
Seal of the United States, with the eagle behind a shield. It has
an olive branch in its right talon and arrows in its left talon.
There are thirteen stars above the eagle, representing the original
thirteen colonies. In its beak is a banner with the words ‘E
PLURIBUS UNUM’ inscribed on it.
I look upon the majestic bald eagle, wings
spread wide with the words “United States of America – 1 oz. Fine
Silver ~ One Dollar” inscribed on its body. A reminder of the
power, strength and pride of my country. It’s a reminder of the
hard work and dedication it took to achieve this level of success.
I’m proud to be an American, and the eagle serves as a reminder of
The New Eagle
on the reverse
As an American, I’m proud to be the bearer of
this new 2021 Silver Eagle coin. The reverse design is a beautiful
representation of our national bird, the bald eagle. Emily Damtra
has captured the majestic beauty of the eagle in flight, with an
oak branch held in its talons. It’s a stunning image of the moment
before the eagle touches down to its safe destination. I’m honored
to own this coin, with its iconic design, that celebrates the
beauty of our nation’s symbol.
I’m holding a silver dollar coin in my hands.
Engraved around the edge, it reads “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1
OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR”. Just above those words is the
national motto, “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. I can feel the weight of the
coin in my palm, and it’s a reminder of the country I call

American Eagle Silver Reverse
I recently learned that the US Mint is giving
the reverse of the American Silver Eagle a makeover, for added
protection against counterfeiting. This one ounce coin is an iconic

that my coins are more secure. I’m also looking forward to the new
design and how it will look in my collection.
This summer, I’m looking forward to the launch
of the new design. It features the national bird in its natural
state, soaring with an oak branch. Emily Damstra created the design
with the intent of capturing the American Eagle as if it’s bringing
a branch to its nest. I’m so excited to see this design come to
